Overview
Tate Modern Model Kit
In the early 1990s the Tate embarked on a monumental project to convert a power station into a gallery. An architectural competition was proposed in July 1994 and was won by the architects Herzog & de Meuron. The new Tate Modern opened its doors to the public in 2000.The museum's vision to be at the forefront of the visitor experience when it comes to interacting with works of art took another brave step when they again commissioned Herzog & de Meuron to design an extension to accommodate performance and installation art. The new space incorporates the underground Tanks (which used to store oil) and a dynamic new brick structure, the Blavatnik Building.
This model was produced with the utmost attention to detail. The designers researched architectural drawings and dissected countless photos to capture the true essence of the original building. Materials are selected with the same dedication to quality and sustainably sourced where possible. In short, this model feels like it could have come from the architect's own studio.
Beautifully boxed with clear, easy-to-follow instructions to help unleash your inner architect. Glue not included.
