Do you ship overseas?
Yes! We offer shipping options to nearly every country in the world. During checkout, you will be able to select a Shipping Option based on travel times and price. If you're shipping internationally, please note that FedEx is a more secure shipping method than DHL First Class.
Shipping options and costs?
Our shipping prices are calculated real-time based on package dimensions, weight, distance traveled and requested delivery service/speed. Unfortunately, postage isn't cheap as we are a small company and do not get the rates of huge corporations like Amazon, Walmart, etc. We ship everything from our location in San Diego, CA and postage is "zone based" (the further away, the more expensive it is). Our lowest shipping rate is typically $6.50 to ship within the same state we are located, California, so anywhere outside of California is likely to incur higher fees. We do our best to keep our shipping prices low as we are incredibly thankful for our customer's support.
Not all shipping methods are available at all times or to all locations, so if you do not see your preferred shipping method please feel free to reach out and we can check if it's a glitch or unavailable.

What's your Return Policy?
Art of Play will gladly offer credit in the form on a digital gift card for the return of any items (still sealed in new condition) purchased on www.artofplay.com within 30 days of the original order. Because many of our products are limited, we cannot offer refunds or credits on opened/used items. In the event you return received product(s), return shipping is the responsibility of the customer to pay. Please email contact@artofplay.com for assistance on beginning the refund process.

Do you ship to the UK/EU?
Yep! Please note that all customs fees are the responsibility of the customer to pay.
For the UK specifically, any order placed on our website with a total below £135 will have the 20% GB VAT charged at the time of checkout. Please note, however, that shipping companies may still charge extra import fees at their discretion, and Art of Play does not cover these costs. Orders placed on our website with a total over £135 will have the VAT charged upon delivery or during the time of processing at customs.
What is VAT and does it apply to me?
"VAT, or, Value-added tax, is a consumption tax on goods and services that is levied at each stage in the supply chain where value is added, from initial production to the point of sale."

When will my order ship?
During non-peak seasons, our warehouse processing period is typically 1-2 days. Yep, we ship fast! As soon as your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with all the necessary tracking info.
During peak seasons (holidays or highly anticipated releases), the processing period may be up to 3-5 business days. Rest assured our small team is always working tirelessly to get your orders out as quickly as possible.
My Order is stuck in transit.
For the last two years, mail services across the globe have been experiencing major delays that are still ongoing today. From COVID restrictions and understaffing, to shipment overload and inclement weather, there are many reasons your package may be delayed. Be sure to check all of the tracking information provided in your shipping confirmation email - if you shipped internationally through DHL, this includes your local postal services tracking as well. If you have trouble finding this, let us know and we're happy to help locate it for you.
International DHL shipments: Your packages have estimated transit times of 21 business days once they leave our warehouse, but this is just an estimate as DHL First Class does not come with a guaranteed delivery timeline. It also does not come with detailed tracking capabilities, so your tracking will often times drop off once shipped out of the US (making it appear stuck in Los Angeles) and tracking won't pick back up until arrival in the destination country. We promise this is standard and your package is usually still en route to you, it's just not being scanned in along the way.
Holiday Shipping Deadlines
International Orders: Due to the unprecedented shipping delays over the last few years, we can no longer guarantee any International orders arriving by the Holidays unless placed with an express shipping method (FedEx, 2 Day, or Overnight).
Domestic Orders: Orders placed after December 5th may not arrive in time for the Holidays. Please note that Art of Play is not liable for loss or delays at the hands of the postal service.
Do you offer Free Shipping?
As a small business navigating through unprecedented times, we are unable to offer free shipping at this time. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause, and appreciate your understanding.
My Order seems to be lost. What now?

Where are your Playing Cards made?
Nearly all of the playing cards we produce are manufactured domestically with paper from sustainable forests and are printed with vegetable-based ink.
Our playing cards feature a proprietary "thin stock" developed by our founders, Dan and Dave, in collaboration with the United States Playing Cards Company to provide a unique handling experience for Cardistry, Magic, and Gameplay.

Art of Play will not divulge or even engage in conversation regarding proprietary information and trade secrets. This includes, and may not be limited to the following:

What are the best cards for Cardistry?
The answer to this question is subjective, and to be honest, there is no right or wrong answer. Cardistry is an art form of creative expression, and the playing cards used to perform the moves are very much a part of that. Nearly every deck of cards in our catalog is printed using the same manufacturer*, on the same paper, so it's just a matter of what design(s) appeal to you.
*Like a fine bottle of wine, playing cards (even though printed by the same manufacturer) can often feel and handle differently. You might find some decks feel a little better than others. If you come across a deck that you think is right for you, we suggest stocking up as most of the cards in our catalog are limited and will eventually be out of print.
Puzzle Solutions
We're more than happy to provide hints to the various puzzles in our catalog. Just send us an email and we'll do our best to get you back on track. Please note that some of our puzzles are handmade by small producers in Japan, Germany, etc. and may come with instructions/solutions in different languages. More often than not, they will also include an illustrated step-by-step guide helpful for speakers of all languages.
How to submit a product for consideration?
We're passionate about creative design and we're always on the lookout for interesting products to add to our assortment. If you're a maker, designer, or dreamer of great ideas, we want to see your product or collection. Tell us about your item here.
As a result of the large volume of submissions, we regret that we are unable to respond to each one individually. If our buyers find your product to be something our customers would enjoy, we will contact you for additional information.
Order Questions
Can I change/modify my Shipping Address?
To update your shipping address, login into your online account and proceed to the Edit Address option. Once an order has been placed, it is very difficult for us to update the address for that package, so please double-check address details before submitting an order.
If an order was placed and an incorrect address was used, please notify us immediately. We'll do our best to intercept the package, but there is no guarantee. Once your package is in the hands of the shipping service, we are unable to alter the address for you.
How do I cancel or add-to an existing order?
Our warehouse is highly efficient and operates at lightning speed. An order placed at 2pm will most likely get shipped the same day. If you wish to cancel an open order, please notify us ASAP, and we'll do our best to have it canceled; however, there is no guarantee. If the package gets shipped, the next step would be to return it to us once it arrives for a full refund, excluding shipping.
The simplest way to add an item to your existing order is to place a new one. You can then email us both order numbers with a request to combine shipping. If neither order has shipped, we may be able to combine them into one package and reimburse you for any access shipping charges. Please note order combination is not available during the Holidays.
Can I place an order over the phone?
Although we'd love to talk to you in person, we prefer that orders are placed online. Our online shop is secure and easy to use. If however, you prefer to talk to us please email us a phone number, call-back time, and a list of items you're looking to purchase so that one of our specialists can get back to you.
How can I track my Order?
To track an order simply login to your online account and click the order you'd like to track. From there you will see a link to the shipping providers (USPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.) tracking portal. You will also receive a confirmation email once your order is shipped with the necessary links for tracking. If you don't see this, we recommend checking your spam folder.
Please note that some shipping providers, such as DHL, do not always update their tracking info on a regular basis. For international orders, it can take up to a week (sometimes longer) for the system to update.
How do I redeem a Gift Card or Discount Code?
Gift Cards and Discount Codes can be redeemed on the checkout page just above the itemized report of the order. Enter the Gift Card or Discount Code and hit 'Apply'. The order total will automatically update.
Please note that both Gift Cards and Discount Codes do not count towards Shipping, and some Discount Codes received via email promotions may have an expiration date.
Can I combine orders?
Unfortunately, we cannot combine orders placed on www.artofplay.com with other shops that use Art of Play Fulfillment as their 3PL partner. Please understand that although everything might be fulfilled and shipped within the same warehouse, each company is independently managed and therefore operates as a separate entity.
If you're looking to combine two orders placed on Art of Play's website, please reach out to us here and we will do our best to accommodate. In certain cases, you may need to cancel and re-order altogether. Please also note that during the Holidays, order combination is not available.
