Skeleton Key Puzzle
A modern update to an age-old puzzle that’s exclusive to Art of Play. This elegant brass-finished key is our take on the classic disentanglement challenge commonly referred to as the “buttonhole” puzzle.
Setup
The set-up for the buttonhole version is widely available online for anyone keen to inflict it upon a well-dressed friend. While the solutions for both methods are topologically identical, we hope this skeleton key will unlock some well-earned epiphanies for those who choose not to peek at the instructions below.
Loop the ribbon into position as shown. Then, without opening your first finger or thumb, or untying the knot, remove the key from your hand.

Arrange the key as shown. The key may be pointing up or down, depending on the original direction of the loop in the ribbon.
SOLUTION
Pass your fingers, then your entire hand, through the loop in the ribbon. As the ribbon slides up your wrist, it will allow the key to pass through the circle between your first finger and thumb.
Once more, pass your hand through the loop and the key will come unlocked!
