Overview

Choir

Allow us to introduce Choir, from Teenage Engineering, one of the most innovative and exciting design companies in the world.

These eight wooden dolls are made to serenade you with a repertoire of choral classics. Their playfully elegant exterior hides sophisticated technology which creates a sonic surprise. Each figure is a singer, with their own characteristic vocal range. Gently tap or tilt the doll and it starts to play. Give it a smack and it stops.

Individually, each doll can sing beautiful, dynamic solos, but the amazing part is that if you put them together, they begin to sing in counterpoint melody!

At the centre of each beechwood figure is a hidden speaker module which also functions as the CPU and transmitter. The battery is rechargeable and capable of up to 4 hours of performance time.

The Chorus comes preprogrammed with a wide repertoire of classical music, beloved melodies and traditional folk songs. However, musicians may prefer to create original compositions using Chorus. Anyone can play conductor using an OP–1 field, OP–Z, or any midi keyboard with bluetooth connectivity.

Based on cultures and characters from across the world, each doll is unique and has it's own vocal tonality. Members of the chorus include: Carlo, baritone from Italy, Gisela, mezzo soprano from Germany, Bogdan, a Cossack bass, Hatshepsut, mezzo soprano from Egypt, Ivana, alto from Netherlands, Miki, tenor from Japan, Olga, Russian contralto, and Leila, Palestinian soprano.
