African Elephant Cup
This elegant mirrored tea cup reveals a secret elephant hiding in the saucer. From above, the colorful pattern printed on the ceramic saucer may seem abstract but when the teacup is placed in the center of the dish, an African elephant can be clearly seen in the reflection.
The design is created using a technique called anamorphic distortion and the 24-sided mirror on the outside of the cup reverses that distortion to create an unmistakable image. A beautiful combination of art and physics that elevates an everyday object to the level of magical artifact.
