Overview

Japanese Monkey Box

This handmade Japanese puzzle box is both beautiful and humorous. Originally called Osaru no Kagoya, the box tells the story of two mischievous monkeys (Osaru) who kidnap the palanquin bearer (Kago) and take him for a walk in his own palanquin!

The etching on the top of the fine cherry wood box shows an image of traditional Japanese tourist route between Odawara Castle and Hakone. Midway between them is a famous natural hot spring where wild monkeys like to bathe. It's an incredible site and worth a trip to see in person!

To unlock this box, you must help the monkeys follow the traditional tourist path... The solution is not terribly difficult, but it is sure to put a smile on your face.
